About this blog
Dookshop is a marketplace for African ebooks — a place to buy, own, and read work by writers from Lagos to Nairobi, Accra to Cape Town, wherever you are in the world.
This blog is where the team writes things down. Some of it is about the books themselves: reading lists, author spotlights, and the titles we can't stop recommending. Some of it is about the work of building the shop — how we think about pricing across borders, how we protect authors' royalties, and the small decisions that add up to a good reading experience on a phone with a patchy connection.
We believe African stories deserve first-class distribution, and that the people who write them deserve to be paid fairly when their work is read. Everything we build comes back to those two ideas.
